Youth Enterprise Workshop brings young talents into practical experience
Since September 16, 2026, the Industriepark Waltershausen has been a place for young people to explore, tinker and create. The Youth Enterprise Workshop gives students from grade 7 onwards the opportunity to explore technology and gain practical experience.
Every other Wednesday, students come together at the training center of the Industriepark Waltershausen to build, program and experiment. Instead of learning through theory alone, the focus is on practical projects, real tools and teamwork.
Experience technology instead of just talking about it
The Youth Enterprise Workshop gives participants the opportunity to put their own ideas into practice and explore different technical and hands-on areas. Instead of simply talking about technology, students can build, program and develop their own solutions. Along the way, they gain practical experience while strengthening teamwork and creative thinking.
The first project focuses on a LEGO robot. The students program the robot using (electro-)pneumatics and develop solutions to successfully navigate a playing field. The focus is on trying things out, experimenting and finding solutions together.
The second project takes a more hands-on approach: while building their own metal jeep participants learn how to saw, file, drill and assemble components.
The focus is on trying things out, experimenting and finding solutions together. Step by step, they create their own project and put what they have learned directly into practice.
With the Youth Enterprise Workshop, the Industriepark Waltershausen aims to give young people an authentic insight into technical work environments and potential vocational training opportunities. Students can explore their interests, gain practical experience and discover how diverse and exciting technology and skilled manual work can be.
This is how theory becomes practice and first ideas become real projects.

Curiosity grows when young people are given the opportunity to try things out for themselves. That is exactly what we want to achieve with the Youth Enterprise Workshop – not just explaining technology, but experiencing and shaping it together.

Working together for the future
The Youth Enterprise Workshop connects young people with practical career orientation and gives them the opportunity to discover their own interests and talents. Practical work is at the heart of the program: students work on their own projects, gain experience with tools and technology, and learn the importance of teamwork and creativity.
The Stiftung für Technologie, Innovation und Forschung Thüringen (STIFT) coordinates the Youth Enterprise Workshops and supports the regional projects. The Free State of Thuringia – Thuringian Ministry for Economic Affairs, Agriculture and Rural Areas supports the program and thereby contributes to promoting young talent and skilled workers in Thuringia.
At the Waltershausen site, the Industriepark Waltershausen provides the appropriate setting for practical implementation with its training center. Here, students can work with real tools and technology and turn their ideas into reality. In this way, the Youth Enterprise Workshop provides a practical introduction to technical topics and potential career fields.
