Case Study | Start-
and Entryseal
Paris Line 18
Paris Line 18
Line 18 is part of the ambitious Grand Paris Express program and runs through the southwest of Paris, from Orly Airport via the Paris-Saclay technology and science cluster to Versailles-Chantiers. With a total length of around 35 km, about 13 km of which will run above ground on viaducts and the remainder underground, the line will serve 10 stations in the future. On lines 11, 14, 15, 16, and 17 of the Grand Paris Express, SEALABLE sealing solutions have already been widely installed. Further plans foresee an extension beyond Versailles to Nanterre by 2030.
The challenge in this project
Due to geological variability, tunnel construction must be adapted to the varying ground conditions. The Start and Entryseals must withstand these different circumstances and, despite their enormous size, be precisely connected and installed by hand.
Lösung und Nutzen
With manual precision, the special Start- and Entryseals are glued and installed on-site by our service technician. These Startseals can weigh up to 22 kilograms per meter. By using the Start- and Entryseal in the start ring, the TBM is reliably protected against the intrusion of groundwater during drilling.
- Manual cutting, gluing, and installation on site
- Reliable protection of the tunnel boring machine
- Precise sealing through customizable sealing solutions
- High-quality rubber compound for abrasion resistance
- Resistant to high pressure and a wide range of requirements
Our most important goal is to create a connection that withstands high water pressure. That’s why I like to get hands-on myself.
