Company Hike Day I Of Dragons, Gorges, and Wild Beasts
Hiking Day 2025 – 510 meters of elevation, laughter, and plenty of adventure
33 enthusiastic colleagues, perfect weather, and one plan: get out of the office and into adventure! This year’s trail led us through the Landgrafenschlucht and up to the Hohe Sonne, a climb of 320 meters in elevation that we were determined to conquer. And yes: everyone made it! (Even those who, over morning coffee, still wondered whether they belonged more to Team Coffee & Cake or Team Mountain Goat). At the top, we were rewarded with a breathtaking view of the Wartburg. The stunning panorama made us forget the effort in no time and, of course, it turned out to be the perfect photo spot.
It was my first time joining this year, and I’m already looking forward to next time. Great idea and great vibes!

Through the
mystical
Dragon Gorge
After the first stretch through the Landgrafenschlucht and up to the Hohe Sonne, it was time to head downhill. Our return route took us through the famous Drachenschlucht: narrow paths, damp rocks, moss-covered walls, and plenty of oncoming traffic. But with good spirits, a bit of consideration, and the occasional “slalom maneuver,” we successfully navigated this section as well.
A real highlight was the Elfengrotte. Nestled between rocks and trees, it offered an almost fairytale-like setting, perfect for a quick climb and a refreshing break. Those who wanted could recharge their energy before moving on. Passing the picturesque Knöpfelsteiche and walking through a beautiful avenue lined with birch and beech trees, our path led us toward the Sängerwiese.
The hiking day is always a highlight, but this year topped previous ones in both the number of participants and the fantastic atmosphere and all in perfect weather!
Impressions
My sneakers were still white after the hike, my feet didn’t get any blisters, the weather and company were fantastic, and my laugh muscles definitely got their workout. The day couldn’t have been better, and I’ll definitely be joining again next year unless it falls on my mom’s birthday.

A lovely finale – schnitzel,
goulash & beer
At the Sängerwiese, the well-deserved finale awaited us: delicious food and freshly poured beer in the sunshine. Whether it was schnitzel, goulash, or soljanka, every plate was a hit. And yes, even our “lost sheep,” who had wandered off the path for a bit, made it back in time for the feast. In this relaxed setting, everyone gets to know each other in a whole new way. Alongside engaging conversations, there were also singing sessions and fond reminiscing about past years. By around 4 p.m., the last remaining hikers reluctantly made their way back to the parking lot with tired legs, but spirits still high. One thing is already certain: we’re already looking forward to the next hiking day!
